To ensure the D-MAX BLADE was ready for it all, more than a dozen prototypes were developed and validated during a 100,000km testing program across challenging conditions around the country. The result is a vehicle designed with Australian adventurers in mind.

The D-MAX BLADE was engineered to deliver enhanced off-road capability straight from the showroom, giving drivers the confidence to explore further without the need for extensive aftermarket modifications. From its Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac RT rugged-terrain tyres to its signature red 3mm steel bash plate, matte black tubular steel side steps and dual 8-tonne rated recovery points, every enhancement was designed to help drivers tackle challenging terrain with greater confidence.

The locally-developed 35mm Multi-Tune Valve (MTV) twin-tube dampers improve off-road stability and chassis control without compromising on-road comfort, while the wider wheel track contributes to improved steering feel. Developed in partnership with Melbourne-based Walkinshaw Automotive Group, the BLADE represents a collaboration between Australian engineers, designers and automotive specialists who understand the unique demands of local conditions. Part of that local development included testing and tuning at Victoria's renowned Lang Lang Proving Ground, a facility that has been used to develop and test Australian vehicles since 1957, helping shape a vehicle engineered specifically for Australian roads, tracks and adventures.
