This glossary is a handy guide to help explain some of the common terms that you'll find used across our website.

When activated, the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) automatically maintains vehicle distance in accordance with the vehicle in front, automatically slowing down and speeding up with traffic as needed, up to a predetermined set speed. For models with an Automatic Transmission, ACC features Stop and Go Functionality, automatically slowing the vehicle down to a complete stop and taking off again with the traffic ahead.

Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Airbags automatically deploy to maximise occupant protection in the unlikely event of a crash. Both the D-MAX & MU-X have a total of eight airbags, consisting of: dual front, dual side, dual curtain, driver’s knee and far-side airbags.

ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) safety ratings are published for a range of new passenger, sports utility (SUV) and light commercial vehicles (LCV) entering the Australian and New Zealand markets, using a rating system of 0 to 5 stars. The star ratings indicate the level of safety a vehicle provides for occupants and pedestrians in the event of a crash, as well as its ability through technology to avoid or minimise the effects of a crash. Both the D-MAX & MU-X range have scored the maximum 5-star ANCAP safety rating, tested 2022, across all variants in the range.

Ensuring optimum control under heavy braking, the Anti-lock Brake System works by individually modulating brake pressure to each wheel during heavy brake applications.

Brake Override System is an active vehicle safety feature designed to work as a failsafe measure in the event that your vehicle receives brake and accelerator pedal signals at the same time.

The maximum weight or load that a vehicle can safely and legally tow when the trailer being towed is equipped with its own braking system. If over 2,000kg an Electric Brake Controller (EBC) is also required.

Headlights and clearance lights that stay on for a short time after the vehicle is locked to light the way at night.

LED Daytime Running Lights are lights within the headlight assembly that automatically turn on when the vehicle is started, the transmission lever is in a position other than “P” and the handbrake is off. DRLs not only provide additional illumination in front of the vehicle, they serve the purpose of making the vehicle more visible to pedestrians and other road users.

A value used to assess how efficiently an object moves through air. It’s considered to be a method of measuring how aerodynamic an object, like a vehicle, is. A lower Cd value suggests better aerodynamic performance.

Driver Attention Assist is designed to identify signs of fatigue or inattentive driving behaviour.

Electric Power Assisted Steering uses an electric motor rather than a traditional hydraulic system to assist the driver with the necessary steering assistance.

Connected via the tow bar wiring harness, the Electronic Brake Controller modulates brake application across the electric brakes of the connected trailer in tow. The EBC offers fine tuning of how much brake force is be applied to the trailer brakes proportionally to the brake input of the vehicle. Offered as an Isuzu UTE Genuine Accessory.

The Electronic Brake Force Distribution system is a combination of electronic and hydraulic technologies that varies the pressure applied to the brakes at each corner of the car based on road conditions, speed and loading to provide stronger and safer braking performance in emergency situations.

A combination of sensors across the vehicle monitor the direction of travel and steering wheel position. If the system detects excessive steering input or the vehicle becomes unstable outside of the steering input, the ESC will automatically decrease engine power while simultaneously applying brake pressure to individual wheels, to help bring the vehicle back on track.

During heavy braking applications, EBA will increase brake pressure, to reduce the vehicle stopping distance.

If the stereo camera detects the vehicle venturing outside the lane markings and short range radar detects another vehicle in vehicle blind spot, the vehicle will automatically apply light steering intervention in an attempt to prevent the vehicle changing lanes.

Allows the driver seat belt to freely extend and retract with occupant movement, yet locks the belt during a sudden stop or upon impact.

When heavy brake force is applied to slow or stop the vehicle, the Emergency Stop Signal uses the hazard lights to alert other motorists that the vehicle is decelerating.

An audible and visual warning alert via a head up display projected on the windscreen that warns the driver to brake when a collision is imminent.

Front Park Assist uses a set of ultrasonic sensors to detect and avoid obstacles and other hazards when parking. As the nose of the vehicle moves towards an object, FPA will inform the driver via variable audible alerts and visual information on the MID.

The amount of fuel a vehicle consumes while travelling. A vehicle's fuel efficiency is generally measured by either kilometres per litre (km/L) or litres per 100 kilometres (L/100km).

The Gross Axle Weight (GAW) is the maximum load-carrying weight permitted by the vehicle manufacturer across one single axle.

Gross Combined Weight is the value specified by the manufacturer as the maximum loaded weight of the vehicle plus the weight of anything that is being towed.

Gross Trailer Mass is the weight of the coupled fully loaded trailer, inclusive of the weight of the trailer and everything loaded onto it or into it, minus the towball download weight transferred to the vehicle.

The Gross Vehicle Mass is the maximum legal operating weight/mass of a vehicle, including the vehicle’s chassis, body, engine, engine fluids, fuel, accessories, driver, passengers and cargo.

Managing airflow to the cabin, the HVAC system can heat or cool the cabin to the desired temperature. The HVAC system also manages the front and rear glass demisters functions, which are essential in dissipating excess water vapour that can form on the inside of the cabin glass.

Hill Decent Control maintains a set speed when descending down a steep slope requiring no brake input from the driver and allows the driver to focus their efforts towards the terrain and steering.

Hill Start Assist automatically prevents roll-back when starting on steep gradients (above 5.7-degrees).

When activated, the Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control automatically maintains vehicle distance in accordance with the vehicle in front, automatically slowing down and speeding up with traffic as needed, up to a predetermined set speed. IACC, an enhancement of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), integrates Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) to identify speed signs and adjust the vehicle's speed to match posted limits. For models with an Automatic Transmission, IACC features Stop and Go Functionality, automatically slowing the vehicle down to a complete stop and taking off again with the traffic ahead.

Using the Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) function, when active, the Intelligent Speed Limiter will prevent the vehicle from exceeding the signed speed limit.

ISOFIX is an internationally standardised CRS fitting system, utilising fixings located between the seatback and seat base and a top tether point to secure a CRS without the need of a seatbelt.

A kilowatt is a measurement of how much energy (or power) is being generated at a particular moment. It is a power measurement unit, with one kilowatt equal to 1,000 watts. In the case of vehicles, this measures the amount of power that the engine is generating.

As part of the Isuzu Intelligent Driver Assistance System, Lane Departure Prevention assists by steering the vehicle back into the lane when the vehicle is veering over the marked lane edge.

Lane Departure Warning alerts the driver when the vehicle starts to drift outside of the current marked lane.

The LKA system assists the driver in steering to keep the vehicle traveling in the middle of its lane based on the lane position information recognized by the stereo camera unit.

The Lane Support System (LSS) Switch allows the driver to toggle the Lane Support System on-or-off by pressing and holding the switch. The Lane Support System includes Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK) and Lane Keep Assist (LKA).

Passive Entry and Start System utilises proximity sensors to detect the vehicle key to lock and unlock the vehicle. Paired with the vehicle, the PESS will detect when the key is within the vehicle, allowing the vehicle to be started at the push of the ignition button.

Payload Capacity is the maximum load that the vehicle can carry without exceeding its designated weight limit. This amount includes passengers, cargo, fuel, accessories fitted to the vehicle and any tow ball down weight added from a hitched towing item.

Pearl (Pearlescent) paint reflects and refracts light in different ways to metallic paints creating a pearl-like appearance. The finish is deep and has varying shades of colour that alter depending on the angle it is viewed from.

In the event of an accident where the airbags are activated, Post-Collision Braking automatically applies brake pressure to all brakes to bring the vehicle to a safe stop.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert uses a set of short-range radar sensors to detect vehicles approaching from the rear when the vehicle is reversing out of a parking space or driveway, alerting the driver with an audible warning should an approaching object be detected.

Rear Cross Traffic Braking monitors the surrounding area while reversing into traffic. If an object approaches from the left or right while reversing, the vehicle will automatically brake.

The Rear Differential Lock prevents the rear wheels from rotating at different speeds, ensuring that torque is delivered equally to both rear wheels.

The Rear Park Assist uses a set of ultrasonic sensors to detect and avoid obstacles and other hazards when reversing. As the vehicle reverses closer to an object, RPA will alert the driver via variable audible alerts.

The Traction Control System is designed to prevent loss of traction to driven wheels by controlling engine power and braking to individual wheels.
