At the heart of D-MAX is the Isuzu turbo-diesel engine range. With over a century of specialist engineering experience, the D-MAX is more than ready to handle whatever you throw at it.
3.0L Turbo-Diesel
The highly refined Isuzu 4JJ3-TCX 3.0L turbo-diesel common rail engine delivers the dependable power and durability needed for work, towing, touring and off-road driving. Fuel injection optimisation and a large front-mounted intercooler support strong, responsive performance across a range of driving conditions.
TORQUE ON DEMAND
The ever reliable 3.0 litre turbo-diesel engine produces 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque from just 1,600 through to 2,600rpm. Its broad, flat torque band delivers responsive performance from low engine speeds, supporting confident acceleration when carrying a load, towing up to 3.5T+ or tackling changing road and off-road conditions.
6-Speed Transmission
Paired with the 3.0L turbo-diesel engine, the intuitive 6-speed automatic transmission delivers smooth, responsive shifting across everyday driving, highway touring and towing. Grade Logic technology helps select the appropriate gear when ascending and descending challenging terrain, supporting greater control across changing driving conditions.
2.2L Turbo-Diesel
The Isuzu RZ4F-TC 2.2L turbo-diesel engine is engineered for drivers who demand efficiency and performance without compromise. Built with Isuzu’s trademark durability, it delivers greater efficiency with dynamic acceleration off the line and confident power at highway speeds that inspires peace of mind on every drive.

The Isuzu RZ4F-TC 2.2L turbo-diesel engine produces 120kW, with 400Nm available from 1,600 to 2,400rpm. It delivers impressive efficiency without compromising on performance, offering reliable driveability for city streets and the strength to take on off-road adventures.
8-SPEED TRANSMISSION
Complementing the 2.2L engine is an 8-speed automatic transmission. Tuned shift mapping and additional underdrive gears work together to ensure precise gear selection and maximises torque across the powerband, delivering a smooth experience with the perfect balance of power and efficiency on every drive.

3.5T PULLING POWER
The D-MAX range is built to tow and can make light work of a boat, a caravan or a trailer. With 3.5 tonne towing+, the truck-based chassis of the D-MAX gives you the ability to tow pretty much anything you can throw at it.
OFF-ROAD READY
Rough Terrain Mode
Engineered for Australian conditions, every 4x4 D-MAX features Rough Terrain Mode (RTM) as standard. RTM helps maximise traction and vehicle control across slippery, uneven and challenging terrain, providing greater confidence when conditions become more demanding.
Hill Start Assist & Descent Control
Take on any challenge with Hill Start Assist which prevents vehicle roll-back when starting on steep gradients (above 5.7 degrees). Hill Descent Control gives you the confidence to tackle any downhill terrain by ensuring maximum traction.
Rear Differential Lock
Standard on all 4x4 models, the rear differential lock can be engaged at the push of a button when in 4WD-low. Designed to help maintain traction in challenging off-road conditions, it provides additional confidence when driving across loose or uneven terrain. When paired with Rough Terrain Mode, the D-MAX can go almost anywhere.
800mm Wading Depth∞
With a wading depth∞ of up to 800mm on 4x4 models, the D-MAX is built to tackle water crossings with confidence when exploring beyond sealed roads. Designed for adventure, it helps drivers navigate challenging terrain and changing conditions with greater confidence.
Terrain Command Dial
Switch quickly and easily between 2WD-high, 4WD-high and 4WD-low driving modes, allowing drivers to adapt to changing road and off-road conditions with confidence. Terrain Command helps deliver the traction and control needed to tackle a variety of driving environments.
Underbody Protection
The D-MAX 4x4 models have sturdy steel underbody protection, including a steel sump and transfer case guard, for extra protection in punishing off-road conditions.
