Superior performance, enhanced driveability: Meet Isuzu UTE's new 2.2L Engine

There’s no mystery behind Isuzu UTE's decade-long Australian rise, says Managing Director, Mr Junta Matsui.

Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) is bringing a robust new 2.2L power plant to local shores. With refined efficiency, the new 2.2L EURO5 RZ4F engine offers 120kW of power and 400Nm of turbo-diesel torque, with each unit mated to a new, smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission.

Officially arriving in October, but with some stock available from September, the new 2.2L engine will complement Isuzu's highly regarded four-cylinder 3.0-litre 4JJ3-TCX (140kW/450Nm, with 6-speed transmission) to complete IUA’s local engine line-up.

With improved performance both off-the-line and at highway speeds, the inbound RZ4F is a decisive reiteration of IUA’s customer-led evolution. It delivers heightened engagement and impressive capability both on-road and off, while returning a combined cycle fuel economy from just 6.3L/100km#.

Impressively, the new arrival achieves another first, with 3.5-tonne towing+ now standard across the entire D-MAX and MU-X range.

A pragmatic option for motorists who value reliability, affordability, and driveability, the updated drivetrain will be available in SX and X-RIDER variants of the D-MAX, and in LS-M, LS-U and LS-T variants for the MU-X. All 2.2L variants retain a maximum 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

The 2.2L engine arrives alongside a distinctive new colour option, Wolfram Grey Metallic, available in the 25.5MY D-MAX X-RIDER specification and higher, along with a number of customer-focused additions and evolutions. The range now features nine exterior colours for D-MAX and eight for MU-X.

Isuzu’s 1.9L engine, along with manual transmission, will no longer be offered.

Service Plus

Instilling motorists with reassurance, all 25.5MY Isuzu MU-X and D-MAX models are backed by a national network of over 160 dealer sites, as well as IUA’s ‘Service Plus’ customer care program, encompassing 5 Years Flat Price Servicing> at $469 per year/15,000km intervals, 6 Year Warranty∧, and up to 7 Years Roadside Assistance<.

Test drives now available

While the 25.5MY Isuzu D-MAX and MU-X will officially arrive in dealerships from 1 October, some locations will have stock availability from late-September. Customers are encouraged to request a test drive at their earliest convenience to experience the new 2.2L engine first-hand.
