D-MAX SUPERUTE IMPRESSES DURING TESTING AHEAD OF ADELAIDE 500

28 February 2019

It’s full speed ahead for Ross Stone Racing (RSR) and the Caltex Delo® Racing Isuzu D-MAX SuperUte, with Tom Alexander clocking a new personal best (PB) of 1:30.9 during pre-season testing at Queensland Raceway, on 16 February 2019.

Utilising an open track session of the 3.13Km long National Circuit at Queensland Raceway, Tom Alexander clocked consistent back-to-back lap times during the fifty laps of testing, before finishing the day with a new personal best lap time of 1:30.9 — just nipping at the heels of the 2018 Ipswich SuperSprint 1:30:434 lap set by Ryal Harris. The pre-season testing PB lap time was clocked by Alexander on a set of scrubbed tyres, during hot conditions.

RSR is now focusing completely on the upcoming SuperLoop Adelaide 500, where Alexander is looking to repeat his performance in 2018 by muscling his way back onto the podium.

RSR Team Principal, Ross Stone said “Traditionally, pre-season testing is the opportune time to iron out any kinks in the setup of the race vehicle and identify any inconsistencies prior to the first race weekend”.

“However, I’m happy to report that the we’ve found significant gains in pace and drivability in this new D-MAX SuperUte compared with last year’s Colorado — as evident in the consistent lap results throughout the day. With testing behind us, we have a solid understanding of the pace of this new SuperUte setup and more importantly, Tom is comfortable with the way it drives. I have a good feeling about this season, and look forward to the first round of the Championship in Adelaide this weekend,” he concluded.

General Manager – Marketing and PR at Isuzu UTE Australia, Mike Conybeare said “Talking with the RSR Team, the fifty laps of testing highlighted the durability and consistency found with the 3-litre turbo diesel Isuzu engine and I’m pleased to see Tom’s pace has improved with the new car.”

“We are incredibly excited for the 2019 ECB SuperUte Championship and am looking forward to seeing the new Isuzu D-MAX SuperUte mixing it with the other dual cabs at the Adelaide 500,” concluded Mike Conybeare.

The Caltex Delo® Racing Isuzu D-MAX SuperUte is set to debut on track at the 2019 Superloop Adelaide 500 on 28 February – 3 March 2019.
