Adventure Right On Our Doorstep

15 February 2021

With international travel out of the question in these current times, Aussies are looking for opportunities to explore their own backyard and make the most of what is available to us, right on our doorstep. Advocates for this way of life are Isuzu UTE’s partners of 9 years, husband-and-wife duo Peter ‘Spida’ and Sheree Everitt from The Great Australian Doorstep, which for their 14th season are once again taking their desire for adventure to the local Australian streets and back road tracks.

Since their debut season, Spida and Sheree have been no stranger to taking their adventures to some of the most intriguing locations in Australia—this time placing emphasis on their home state of Queensland, while some travel restrictions were in place. And rest assured, the former AFL star and his travel-expert wife are not taking this time for granted—making the most of it with a brand new Isuzu D-MAX and an MU-X as their touring vehicles of choice.

“The 2021 season of The Great Australian Doorstep, while limited to the state of QLD, is in no way limited on the sight-seeing front. Instead we chose to focus on discovering hidden rural towns and other travel destination gems that most may have never heard, or have never had the chance to explore before,” said Sheree.

“The places we explore are rich in history and are home to some of the most amazing and interesting people. From countrysides to waterfronts, Australia is truly blessed with opportunities and activities for the whole family to enjoy, like horseback riding, snorkelling, 4WDing and much, much more—which is what our whole show is all about,” she said.

This season of The Great Australian Doorstep takes Spida and Sheree to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Noosa Everglades, Maryborough, Susan River, Hervey Bay, Fraser Island, Lady Elliot Island, Bundaberg region, and a road trip all the way out to Birdsville—which is all made invariably easier with the Isuzu D-MAX and MU-X as their tourers.

“Alongside the MU-X, I just love this new D-MAX—what an upgrade, more performance, more tech, more safety and super comfortable for my 6-foot-8 frame and is just everything we needed for our travels on this new season,” said Spida. “I don't want to brag, but I have already had to tow a few other travellers out of tough situations—they should have bought a D-MAX!”

Season 14 of The Great Australian Doorstep kicked off Saturday, 13 February on Channel 7Two nationally and will replay throughout the year across 7Two. To catch previous episodes, you can stream online anytime at 7Plus
