Isuzu UTE A-League 2021/22 Season Kicks Off

23 November 2021

Isuzu UTE Australia’s partnership with the A-Leagues has seen its match debut—kicking off last weekend on November 19 at AAMI Park in Melbourne, with Melbourne City FC and Brisbane Roar FC facing off in the first match of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2021/22 Season.

The first round of the Isuzu UTE A-League beheld a welcomed sight for all involved—with spectators back in seats to see the reigning Premiers and Champions mark the start of the season and debut Socceroo Mathew Leckie. Both fans and players alike were enthralled to be back in one place to witness a new era in Australian Football—one that will bring all leagues closer together.

This new beginning for the league was defined back in October of 2021 by the A-Leagues uniting A-Leagues' Men, Women and Youth Leagues under a single unified banner. After all, “it’s not men’s football, or women’s football, it’s just football,” said Danny Townsend, Managing Director of the A-Leagues. With this inclusive approach, new avenues open up the ways fans can connect with the sport—whether it be in the stadiums, at home or anywhere in-between.

Bringing fans even closer to the world game, the A-Leagues have launched a new online platform where football and culture unite; [KEEPUP.]. KeepUp.com.au was conceived as a way to unite football into one home to make it easier to connect with fans, so they can experience their love of football and the culture that surrounds it in one convenient place. On this site and via the app, users can access in-depth and robust content from the A-Leagues and around the world, including match centres, analysis and in-depth features on the next generation of players—as participation in the sport continues to grow rapidly.

All A-Leagues matches will also be televised on either free-to-air TV on Network Ten and on-demand through Paramount+, so fans can catch their teams’ games whenever suits them.

To further bring this unified vision to life, Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) are supporting the A-Leagues with a fleet of the reputable Isuzu D-MAX utes and MU-X 7-Seat SUVs, as the Official Automotive Partner of the A-Leagues' Men, Women, Youth and E-Sport Leagues. This also includes being the first-ever Naming Rights Partner for the A-Leagues' Men’s competition, known as the Isuzu UTE A-League. Now, with the 2021/22 season well underway, together IUA and the A-Leagues are looking to deliver an inclusive world-class experience on and off the pitch.

Throughout the 2021/22 season, football fans will see the best in emerging talent take to the field alongside a number of international transfers from some of the best clubs in the world. With a new finals format, a highly anticipated lineup of derby clashes and ongoing excitement driven by a new wave of talent, this season is sure to be one to remember—and one to be celebrated even further.

In keeping with tradition, Isuzu UTE A-League players will strive for excellence once again in an attempt to take home the prestigious Alex Tobin Medal—awarded to the player who demonstrates leadership, achievement, commitment and service to his fellow players and the game, in commemoration of the attributes Alex Tobin demonstrated throughout his 15-year career as a professional footballer. Paying homage to the values of reliability and adventure shared between football fans and Isuzu drivers, in partnership with IUA the recipient of this honour will also donate an Isuzu D-MAX X-TERRAIN or MU-X LS-T to a junior football club of their choosing.

Also welcoming a new tradition, for the first time the A-Leagues are introducing an inaugural A-Leagues Club Championship—a trophy that will be awarded to the club with the most combined success across both the men’s and women’s leagues.

The Isuzu UTE A-League 2021/22 season of football is well on its way to be one of the most inclusive and celebrated yet—paving the way for many more to come.
