"My reaction to winning the D-MAX was complete shock. I knew it was an instant win promotion, but I found it so hard to believe that I immediately called McDonald’s Customer Service to confirm it! I called McDonald’s Customer Service three times in total, in less than a week for reassurance that it was real! My husband was in just as much shock," said Mrs. Johnson.
"My husband and I had been talking about getting a new car… upgrading our existing ute, which is a 2008 model, to a newer one that felt safer for us to drive and is able to handle long trips, as we have family scattered around the state."
During the handover on the 17th of January 2022, at the very same McDonald's restaurant in Coffs Harbour where Mrs Johnson ordered her original meal just weeks before, she was asked what her plans were for her new Isuzu D-MAX.
"We're definitely keeping the D-MAX! We have had offers to sell it, with some people willing to pay above the sale price for it! Neither my husband or I have ever owned a brand new car before, only ever second-hand, and given that winning a car let alone a top of the range D-MAX is not even a once in a lifetime opportunity we have no interest in selling it! We plan to use it as an all-rounder car and are looking at setting it up with awnings so we can take it out camping!" she responded.
As per the terms of the McDonald's Spend $10 & Win 2021 Summer Promotion, customers simply had to spend $10 or more through the MyMacca's app between the 1st -28th of December, 2021, and they were guaranteed to win from the prize pool worth over $23 million.
